A Word From The Man Himself
A lot of people have been told that they should give up, that they're no good, and that they should just quit while they're behind. It is a myth that only certain people have the ability to become great singers. It is true that some people are amazing singers who have never had a lesson in their lives, but for most of us (myself included) we need a bit of guidance in the finer points of the art of singing.
Two of my past teachers have given me quotes that have kept me motivated over the years...
There has been many times when I have wanted to quit singing along the way, but they were all because of unnatural expectations. Singing, like any other skill takes time, patience and a bit of hard work.
You are NOT going to sound like Whitney Houston or Robbie Williams over night, and YES there are going to be days when you sound crap. A cold or flu, too many cigarettes, a big night out or just burning the candle at both ends is all going to effect the way that your voice sounds.
The knowledge of how to look after the health of your voice is one of the key elements of learning how to sing. For example, air conditioned rooms and speaking too much in noisy bars can wreak havoc with your voice, where as a good diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, and a nice cup of tea with a bit of honey before you sing all contribute to helping your voice sound the best it can on any given day.
At the end of the day we all have a voice, but unfortunately it didn't come with instructions on how to get the most out of it. I have spent a long time trying different methods and have come up with a system that integrates the ideas of many great teachers along with some techniques I have developed myself.
These methods, which I, myself still use on a daily basis, are centered around trying to empower you with knowledge that will enable you to become a great singer, or at the very least, a person who has a real lot of fun belting it out over your car stereo on the way to work in the morning!
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Luke Duffy.
Come and learn how to get the most out of your voice with a teacher who places the focus on the fun and enjoyment of singing.
Not only is singing a whole lot of fun, but it can also act as a tool to develop your confidence and self esteem.
Learn how to click your fingers, clap your hands and stomp your feet along to your favourite songs, (even shake a tambourine if you want to!)
