Unrealistic Expectations
If you have never had any training or instruction on how to sing properly, there is NO reason why you should be any good at it. You would never expect to pick up a violin and be able to play a Mozart concerto in six weeks, so don’t expect the same of your vocal development. Singing is just like any other skill. It takes time, patience and discipline to become good at it.
Some people have a naturally good ear for pitch, but if you are one of the people who don’t-fear not! You’re in the majority! Most people who sing flat or sharp know that they are doing it; they just don’t know what they’re supposed to do to correct it!
Ever Wanted to Write a Song? -It’s The Ultimate gift!
Have you ever wanted to express through song, a moving or powerful experience you have been through? Or to turn that poetry that you have had lying around for years into something you can sing and be proud of? As a songwriter and aspiring producer one of my specialties is helping people to do just that…turn a little idea into a proper song.
You may have a little melody that you have been playing around with, or some lyrics you have always wanted to something with. I can show you how to turn that little bit of creativity into something you can take with you for ever. There are not many gifts you can give someone greater than a song that you have written especially for them. I have written and performed songs for friend’s birthdays and farewells and a couple of weddings, and years later people still come up to me to thank me and to say how moved they were, and even that it made their wedding day!
I can help you develop your voice whilst we work together on writing a song, so that even if you don’t feel comfortable enough singing it in front of a room full of people, you can record it in my studio and give it to the intended recipient on CD. More so than any other reason though, writing a song is an extremely rewarding and fulfilling creative experience, and a fantastic opportunity for personal expression.
Guitar Tuition
Other than singing, I don’t think there’s any instrument better to take up than guitar. You can take it with you wherever you go, you can learn and play most of the best songs ever written, accompany or play along with any other instrument, and other than tuning and changing your strings every once in a while, they never really need any maintenance.
The first couple of months can be frustrating while you’re trying to get your fingers to do what you want them to. But after a little hard work and dedication you’ll be able to play most of your favourite songs and you’ll come to see your guitar as something special that brings you a great deal of enjoyment and hours of fun. Finger dexterity and co-ordination are all important to you being able to progress, so I give you fun little exercises that you can do while you’re chilling out in front of the television.
Lesson one in guitar is the basics of left and right hand technique. We then gradually move on, as the student improves to more interesting stylistic techniques whilst learning any songs that they want to learn. Unlike singing, there are not nearly as many technical concepts that need to be grasped before you can get started, it’s just a matter of learning those chord shapes and then practice, practice, practice!!!
Would you like to be able to stand up and sing a song at a friend or family member’s wedding or birthday?
How about serenade your partner on your anniversary?
Or just be able to belt it out over the car stereo on your way to work in the morning
